The Archdiocesan Catholic

The St. George Trek is the
National Catholic Committee on
Scouting’s sixth high adventure
leadership program for Catholic Boy Scouts
and Venturers. Designed to develop
organizational and relational skills for
leadership, as well as nourishing the
youth’s spirituality, the program will
accomplish its goals by joining selected
youth from throughout the country with
priests, religious and seminarians for a
special journey along the beautiful trails
of the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron,
New Mexico.

The 2004 Saint George
Trek begins on Sunday, July 4, 2004 at
the Madonna Retreat House in Albuquerque,
New Mexico where participants meet, get to
know one another, train, have fun and
pray. Then it’s off to Philmont where
they will hike the Sangre de Cristo Range
of the Rocky Mountains. While hiking, they
will experience a program that is designed
to encourage the integration of morality,
values, spirituality, faith and scripture
in their lives as Christian leaders.
Before leaving Philmont they will be asked
to commit themselves to bring what they
have learned home to their respective
dioceses where they can become effective
peer leaders, and role models for their
fellow scouts. On July 18th all will
return to the Madonna Retreat House in
Albuquerque for the closing Liturgy and
Banquet. On Monday, July 19th all will
travel home to apply all that they have
learned.
